About Country Gardens Nursery
Country Gardens Nursery was founded in 1947 by S. Robert (Bob) Gettinger.
After graduating from SUNY Farmingdale Agricultural College and then serving in WW II in the US Airforce, Bob worked for several premier landscape design/build firms before going out on his own. Along with business partner and friend Charlie (Bud) Trench, Landscaping by Country Gardens was formed. Country Gardens was proficient in residential and commercial landscaping, but found its niche in public works plantings. Some of their projects included Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Promenade, New York State Parkway plantings, Connecticut Turnpike, and several pavilions at the 1964 New York Worlds Fair. In 1970, Bob bought out Charlie.
In 1977, Brad M. Gettinger joined with his father to continue the family business. Brad holds a degree in Horticulture from SUNY at Cobleskill. After earning his degree, Brad gained further experience growing nursery stock in Oregon from 1976 to 1977.
In 2008, Jeanne Mona joined the Country Gardens team as Sales Associate. Jeanne holds a degree in ornamental horticulture from SUNY Farmingdale and has helped to further bolster our sales team by bringing enthusiasm and 30 years of nursery experience to our company.
In 2008, we were also proud to announce the addition of Matt Gettinger to our staff. After graduating from the University of Delaware in 2003 with a degree in Business Administration, Matt spent the next 5 years working in various marketing roles for a well-known Fortune 500 company. At Country Gardens, Matt will be heavily involved with helping to analyze and execute our business strategy moving forward.
